Individual Project
I was inspired by my trip to Seattle and the grounds around GW for this project. I used color contrast, rule of thirds, leading lines, and horizontal lines. I think the photos were successful because they were clear. The challenge was finding a theme.
Memes
I took my inspiration from pretty much any social media app on the planet. I chose pictures that I already took and put funny comments on them that are relatable. The success was coming up with the caption for each photo and the challenge was finding photos that had good enough potential to turn into a meme.
Puns
I used the puns ice-cream, flower girl, and hand shake. I used my surroundings to inspire my puns. I think the challenging thing was trying to find a word that I could depict in a photo. The part that was successful was my ideas for the puns.
Quotes
I liked this project because I enjoyed coming up with pictures and putting inspirational quotes on them. I learned how to find certain sayings that can fit a picture. I went with a theme were I added a famous quote from a movie because I thought it would be "artsy". I was successful in matching my quotes with each photo. It was difficult to find movie quotes that would fit with the photo.

I liked this project because it gave me an opportunity to think outside of the box. I learned how to connect text and font to a certain photo. I was successful in the pictures I took and fonts for my post cards. It was difficult to make a post card that was different than every other post card.
Photo Installation
Annette Messager was one of the artists that I took inspiration from for this project. I used color, diagonal lines, fill the frame, and break the rules. I liked the 3D aspect of it cause it looked like the tree branches were popping out. A success was the different tones I used to make the tree and the photos that I used as the leaves. A challenge was figuring out what I was going to make the tree out of.
Photo Collage
Masumi Hayashi was a main artist that I took inspiration from for this photo collage project. I used rule of thirds, color, fill the frame, horizontal lines, and break the rules. I liked the colors of the mountains and sky which is why I decided to make my photo collage into a picture of landscape. A success was the amount of color and overall people could depict what my photo is. A challenge was trying to take the picture and have each individual photo line up.

Magazine Cover
Vogue, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan, and Teen Vogue were magazines that I looked at for inspiration. I'm influenced by other photographers. My style is simple and beautiful. I created this to learn new skills. A success was using the photo for the cover and a challenge was trying to get the text on it.
Faces of George

Annie Leibovitz, Steven McCurry and Steve Meisel were artists that I researched for this project. I'm influenced by other photographers. My style is simple and beautiful. I created this piece to get closer to my community. This piece represents my community and my school. A success was that I got to know different people at my school. A challenge was trying to make each photo look different and unique. I learned how to portray beauty in a black and white picture.
Photo Documentary

The photo documentary project helped me to pick an issue in our society and capture that through photographs. I took many portraits and photos including multiple people of different race to show racism. The successful thing was that overall my photos portrayed racism. The challenging thing was that some didn't turn out as I'd wished.
Macro Photography

File Size: | 493 kb |
File Type: | jpg |
The macro photography project helped me to learn how to add texture to my photos and zoom in to smaller objects to make them look larger. I took pictures of my school and my classmates. I used leading lines, color, break the rules, and rule of thirds. It was successful because a lot of my pictures had nice texture that made them interesting. It was challenging to get the camera to focus when zooming in really close to the objects.

File Type: | jpg |
The light painting project helped me to take photos in situations that I wouldn't normally take them in. I used colors, horizontal lines, It was successful because the pictures progressevly show the growth of a flower. It was challenging to get a clear picture of the flower.
Time and Motion

Time and Motion helped me to have a better understanding of panning and motion blur. I used space to move, rule of thirds, backgrounds, and fill the frame to enhance my photos. I had a hard time getting the subject to be clear and the background to be blurry when panning. It was also difficult to get a quality motion blur picture. My photos were successful because they clearly showed panning and motion blur. I could have used more lighting in some of my photos.
Toy Come to Life
Toys Come to Life helped me to expand my skills and techniques when taking photos. I used the rule of thirds, leading lines, space to move, and diagonal lines to capture realistic scenarios for the toy. It was difficult to prop the toy at a certain angle so that it looked like it was doing the action. My photos were successful because the audience sees the toy completing a human action. I have improved because I have new angles and objects that I can use in the future to enhance my work.

This project taught me how to take something simple and make it look beautiful and complex. I used leading lines, rule of thirds, fill the frame, and space to move to enhance the egg in my photos. I used the natural light of the sun, and the natural darkness of the room to give my egg the right amount of lighting. These pictures are successful because they are creative, like the one by the poster with the man's outstretched hand, and they are sexy because of the egg and the dark background that gives a dramatic tone. Improvement was made when it came to thinking outside of he box with my photos and trying different angles/positions to give depth to a simple object like an egg.
Composition Project: Trees

After this project I learned how to take my knowledge of the rules of composition and apply it to the photos I take. I used the rule of thirds, leading lines, and space to move through all of my photos. I also used the natural lighting of the sun to my advantage. The most challenging part was to make the trees look interesting and different from one another. I think these pictures are successful because they present a beautiful aspect of nature. Each one portrays bright colors and interesting textures. This project helped my to improve on taking the time to plan out my photos and think about different components of the photo that are important in relaying a story in the piece of work.
Scavenger Hunt

File Type: | jpg |
After this project I experimented and learned a lot of things about positioning, lighting and angles to create effects that make the photo more complex. I used the flash for some pictures to provide some light and others I didn't to give the photo a cool effect. The most challenging part of this project was finding some of the things in the scavenger hunt. Finding someone drinking from the water fountain and something orange was difficult. But, once I found them I found the right position and got a really cool photo. I think the picture of the people were successful because they turned out really nice and they tell a story. Because of this project I improved on my ideas for different ways of portraying objects. Whether its spacing or lighting I found different ways to capture moments that are interesting.
